Yarrawonga is a small border town in northern Victoria with a population of approximately 8000 people. Situated on the southern bank of the Murray river 280km northeast of Melbourne.
The main attraction in Yarrawonga is Lake Mulwala which has been formed by damming the Murray river. On the northern bank of Lake Mulwala is the town of Mulwala.
Yarrawonga takes its name from the original pastoral lease of 1842. The name Yarrawonga is an aboriginal word meaning "place where the wonga pigeon rested". Yarrawonga is a delightful town who many say gets more sunshine than Brisbane!
